|lori_lee69||09:38 am - belated introduction post!!!!|
I started this community because there wasn't an aussie guiding community i could join and i thought "if you build it, they will come". Well, I just looked at the userinfo page and we have thirty members! Whee! But i only recognise about half a dozen of you. So I think an introductions thread is in order! =o)
Just a little bit about you and your involvement in Guiding. Do you have any special skills or interests we can mine your brain for- like if you've travelled to a world centre or anywhere overseas, are a craft-whiz, games-nut, an experienced camper, a great camp-cooker, organisational whizz, etc.
I'm Laura (friends call me Lori, Guides call me Dilkara), 26, from Western Australia.
I joined my local Brownie unit in 1990. From there I went up to Guides, then stayed with the same unit as a junior leader whilst also being a Venturer (i didnt like our local Ranger Guide unit) then was a Leader of 5-11's and a Ranger/Olave Program member. I also served on the WA Olave Program Committee and ran a few events with them.
In late 2006 I found out I was pregnant so finished Guides at the end of that year. My daughter is 18mths old now and we're moving in 2mths so I'm hoping to become involved in a local District Support Group and work my way back up to a unit as my daughter gets older.
I've done quite a lot of camping and camp-cooking. My brain is full of games. Trillions of them! I'm a big fan of frugal programming ideas.
