I started the 'guides-aus' LJ because at the time, I couldn't find another Australian Guiding journal. I thought of it almost as an 'under-construction' or place-holder. There weren't many members.
Then I left Guides to have my daughter and then moved house and didn't have an internet connection (*shakes fist at Telstra*) and unfortunately, neglected this journal.
There are now quite a few members and quite a bit of activity and I thought now might be a good time to ask if there's any particular direction you want this journal to go in? Obviously, you don't need my input to make it happen, but I thought it might be a good idea to take suggestions, etc.
~ a monthly theme (songs, crafts, tigers, 'x' badge etc) and we can all brainstorm and post our ideas
~ summaries/reviews of weekly meetings and camps
~ stories- memories. Our fave guiding moments.
~ links to websites that have good resources
~ Agony Aunt/ Q&A
~ examples of Australiana for Thinking Day etc, ie damper recipes
~ jokes/ cartoons/ "you know you're a Guide if..."
Do any of these things appeal to you? Do you have any other ideas for the kind of things we can include in this journal? Does anyone want to re-write the journal user-info? Please? haha!

i was about to write the same comment reply =)
a montly theme would be good though. jsut for mroe ideas.and perhaps with the option of having posts on other themes during that month though-in case something really good/bad happened that users wanted to share that wasn't on that theme.

I like the idea of the monthly theme as well... but of course, allowing for other things to pop up, agony aunt, program ideas, stories etc. Mabey we could start to tag entries and use it as a resource? Like if we had a great idea for a promise ceremony, we tag it 'promise'? Then if we are out for ideas on it we just click the tagline and there we are!

And as I currently have an awful lot of time on my hands I would be willing to update the userinfo and such.

maybe one thing we could do is have a weekly post for talking about our meetings. The first person to do it would post the entry, then everyone else would post their report in the comments. That way it would keep the discussion together, and people would feel more comment-love.
I've tried posting each week before, but it's been hard to sustain a full entry twice a week, but this way people could just write a few sentences if that's all they had the energy for.
What say you all?
Awesome. Like if we work out a series of subject title thingies, then we know what that post is about
EG/ "Unit Meeting" means we all talk about our most recent unit meeting under that post, but "Theme of the Month- Bats" means we brainstorm/ list ideas under that post, so we dont flood the journal. And then if we tag the entry as those things, we should be able to find them really quickly too. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
First person to post that week does it, or first person that calendar month chooses a theme. Or something. haha. i have a bad cold and i'm not thinking too straight.
